¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo, Amigos!

Oh wow, stop the presses, I'm writing! Er, wait, does that mean I should say "start the presses"? idk.

My life for the last bit has been fairly routine. Work, church, crashing at home. Maybe reading some Shakespeare when I feel like it. Oh, geez, Hamlet is due tomorrow...better finish it tonight hehe. It's really really awesome. I would love to go see the actual play sometime.

Speaking of shows (although of an altogether different sort), I am going to a Relient K concert on May 30 at the Wonder Ballroom. I don't think you really realize how much fun that will be for me. I have been into this band since I was a preteen, and now I'm going to get to see them live. I know I know, it's just a show, not like meeting them or anything. But to me it IS a big deal. And some good friends of mine are going to go with me, so it'll be a fun evening.

Paul and Ethan are coming home from college soon! For Paul it's just a visit, but Ethan will be here all summer. :) I hope that there's some overlap time in my and Ethan's Home Depot jobs...that would be so fun to work with him. Although I think I'm starting to get a little more comfortable talking to the other people working there...I'm not really used to being the "new" person somewhere. Usually it's "new" people that come to my church, so it's tougher this way. But guess what: God threw open the door for me to give these people some WORD. lol but seriously, it's true! It's not all the time that someone hears you're a Christian, so they say to you, "I'm open to talking about that." I am so excited but so scared! I'm not a strong person, so being the one who is supposed to know the answers is intimidating. But I'm praying, and I would be thankful if you would too.

Steps for Life is coming up fast. I hope you can be there, whoever is reading this! I am so thankful that I got that whole day off work. It is so important to me to be there, since not enough pro-life people go each year. That is starting to bother me rather seriously. Pastor's right: how many people went to Luis Palau's big party? Thousands. How many go each year to the Walk for Life? A few hundred. What is wrong with our brains....

I don't know if you've heard of the fashion designer Christa Taylor. She's a Christian who designs and sells modest, beautiful clothing for women online. She also has a blog that talks about fashion, current stuff going on, and moral issues. I saw her at the Steps for Life last year (I didn't introduce myself because I wasn't sure it was her), but I found out that she's going again this year. Soooo I sent her an e-mail asking if she would maybe do a post on her blog talking about the PRC and the upcoming walk. She wrote back about three days later saying that "it couldn't hurt!" I was very happy! idk how many readers she has in this region, but maybe God will use it somehow. Either way, I'll be happy to meet her at the walk!

Trapezii. I feelz dem.

I haven't been on a computer in two days, and I didn't miss it at all! Yesterday morning we went over to the Sires/Naish house and did some moooooving! I actually really enjoyed it, my muscles are pretty sore (in the good way). After a beautiful day, we left mid-afternoon to get me to the library. I shelved for two hours , then went back to Jeff's house for some more moving! Then I went to Meymey's house for a sleepover. Well, actually we went to the Potts house till like 1:30 or so. Elder Dave helped Mike with their bathroom while we sat around (except for the bathroom run/Doritos coveting trip to Fred Meyer).

Next day, we started out at Permapost wheeeee. Not all that exciting, but I learned that dancing with a vacuum can be rather fun when one puts in their earphones. :P We then went over to Jeff's again, which is pretty much where we spent the rest of the day. Megan, Janelle, and I packed up the kitchen; Jordan and Bill washed out the nasty fridge; Drew and Jeff put up sheet rock.

All this sounds not all that great, but I really had a great time. I mean, come on: I spent like a day and a half with some of my best friends, just a really good feeling. Of course, there was the whole episode tonight...ugh. I suppose if I get into it again, I'll just get me and certain readers of this frustrated all over again. But let me clarify that any anger I felt (or still feel, actually) is tempered by the fact that I still love them and always will. I hope you feel the same...?

I wrote today. I did! It's a four-stanza poem, and it's been in my back pocket since this afternoon. It's not half bad...okay, yes it is half-bad. But I think it's half-good too. Maybe just because it's something, but I feel better about my "ability" to write now that I have something down on paper. Maybe someday I'll start putting my real writing on this blog; it's all stashed away somewhere.

Campout 2008

Learning about the glories of heaven.
Drawing close to God.
Drawing close to God's people, my real family.
Lying on the docks, having good conversations.
Eating marshalades and throwing them.
Seeing the Predmores.
Singing to the Lord in the kitchen.
Calling Melinda all kinds of weird names.
Hiking up an easy hike...that practically killed me.
Boating across the lake with amazingly cool people.
Eating my mom's world-famous food.
Helping my mom cook that world-famous food.
Playing "Down by the Banks" and not feeling stupid about it.
Being silly.
Being serious.
Looking at my future with fear and happiness.
Seeing Vengeance Creek.
Trying ping pong and not caring that I FAILED.
Watching a new sport be invented (Ultimate Ping Pong!!!)
Hugging people.
Learning to trust God more than ever.
Watching four precious saints be baptized in the lake.
Crying for joy with them.
Remembering and missing Grandpa Bob.
Laughing at the cheesy and marvelous slideshow.
Counting the times people said, "It's cold out here."
Wearing the dorky life jackets.
Being honest with people who care about me.
Learning new things about myself.
Wondering about other people.
Loving and being loved.

My heart is full and yearns for heaven. But while I'm here, it soars to be with the church family that I love more than words can say. ♥

Next day!

So I hardly ever post the day after my last post. It usually seems like a waste. But here I am anyways.

So last night's dinner with Maribel went pretty well! Between Mommy and Daddy, I think she really got the gospel. I don't think she was really ready to accept it and let it penetrate, but she said she'd read the Bible verses my mom gave her as they left. But what a sweet family they are! Her mom doesn't speak any English, but her sweetness and motherly kindness showed in her face. She said to my dad a few times (translated by Maribel) that he has a very beautiful family. :) That was nice of her. Maribel also has a son named Kevin. He's eight and pretty sharp! He holds his own in a conversation pretty well (although he frequently inserts comments about Legos and Spongebob).

But guess what: Maribel thought I was 13. You all know how much that kind of thing bothers me. But hey; I've decided to not let that bug me so much. What I need to realize is this: whenever I hate the way I look, obsess over looking older, or compare myself to pretty girls, I'm basically pointing my finger at God and saying, "You didn't make me right! Why can't I be beautiful?" That is just pure sin and selfishness. So call me on it if I ever complain about that again.

I saw Megan's freshly painted room today. Very cool! It's chocolately brown and stuff. So Michelle and I chilled over there all day. We went to Macy's and guess what: Tyler was working! So we talked to him for a little on his break. I also tried a new eyeshadow at the makeup counters (yes boring to hear about). But it was really really REALLY bright blue. Kind of cool and weird.

So then the Nodurfts picked me up back at Megan's house and drove me to my house; they were coming out here anyways to have dinner with us. Daddy grilled steak. Nicey-nice! (I think people think I'm a total dork when I say that, but whatever)

And now the Nodurfts have gone home and I'm posting here at 10:45 posting. Anything else I need to talk about...hmmmm...don't think so. I think tomorrow will be uneventful. Oh, I almost forgot! I checked the bowling alley fees and there's a discount if we go between 3:00-6:00 on a weekday. So I'm thinking Monday or Tuesday? Gimme feedback.

I think I use a lot of run-on sentences and fragments in my blog posts. Never was a grammar fiend. :P

Lazing.

Is lazing a word? As in, "I'm just lazing around," or "There's got to be more to do than lazing!" Yes, it is a word.
And that's all I'm really doing right now. I did my morning chores...*huge yawn* and listened to some music...fun but I ALWAYS do that. I'm beginning to think that my brain is powered by listening to songs, because I get this weird jitterish feeling when my house is silent. And then when I turn on some songs, my whole mind just feels better.
I saw WALL•E on Saturday! It was sooooooo sweet and very incredibly animated. The characters said practically nothing for most of the movie, but that's ok. The story was just as good without dialog, seriously. And the little Pixar short before the movie...absolutely priceless! I don't think my dad and I have laughed that hard at slapstick for a long long time. Aaron and Lily weren't QUITE as thrilled about the movie as I was, but I think they like it.
Sunday's GBI was like a graveyard. With all the people on vacation, there were a total of like, 15 attenders! That included the babysitters with the kids. I got this warm fuzzy feeling during my kid-watching time. When I walked in the nursery, Caleb Smith asked, "Are you the next nursery shift?" I said yes, and all the kids cheered and jumped around! Made me feel really happy.☺☺☺
Today is Rebekah's birthday party. I still haven't gotten her a prezzie, so we'll pick one up on the way over there. I love that kid! She's so sweet and gentle. And she said I'm still her best friend. Another happy moment...kids rock!
Yesterday Aaron and I made cherry-rose petal preserves. It was pretty time-consuming, and it basically tastes like cherry jelly. With a hint of rose fragrance. But oh-well, it gave us an excuse to dress up in face masks and be the...COOKING NINJAS!!! We were going to videotape it and put it on YouTube, but it didn't turn out to very interesting videos. So scratch that.
Right now Lily's reading the Bible, Mom's at coffee with friends, Aaron's playing RuneScape, and I'm finishing this blog. A pretty average Tuesday.
Later, fiends--er, friends!

Wow, the comment discussion really took off last post! I see both sides (even though you guys weren't really arguing, just discussing mostly) and I think maybe I didn't explain very well in my post...
Maybe I did read a little too much into the friendship between those two people, but I don't think so. What I saw was a young, pretty, Christian girl who met a young, handsome, unaved guy for lunch. It could've been innocent. But even so, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; Who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9) When you put yourself in that kind of position with a nonbeliever, it is very close to the edge.

So today I did a little work around the house...I guess it's too early to have much to say. Yesterday was a nice day, but I didn't get to spend much time outside. Not that church is a bummer!!! I had chili cheese fries from Carl's Jr. for lunch AND dinner by my own choice. I love that stuff!!
I'm rather disappointed because I wanted Lily to make applesauce cookies and she won't. I told her that nobody else will make cookies for the barbecue on Saturday, so she should. She wouldn't listen (as usual). WAAAH so I throw a fit.
I don't think I'm going to get to see Indy in theaters...Daddy keeps making plans on the days I want him to take me. Oh, well, DVDs aren't so bad.
Mommy's at the foot doctor. She really didn't want to go, but Dad, Lily, and I were insistent. I mean, she's been having pain in her foot for like a year! Time to see what's up with that.
I want some really rich ice cream, a Super Pretzel, a romantic comedy I've never seen before (preferably starring George, Johnny, or Will), and some money.
I should try to think of something to get Dad for Father's Day. Is it weird to ask someone what they want? Because he already told me what he wants, but I can't get that for him (it's $800)
I wrote a couple limericks this week. Remind me to post them sometime.
You know what would be fun? Ice skating! Anybody into doing that sometime soon?

Ok well this has been a nice little diversion for me, and a waste of your time. Shame on you! You could've been doing something productive! ;)

It was a Wednesday

So yesterday and today I laughed myself silly on the Marvel/DC vids from RandomGuy. He's my new hero!!! And Season 2 is up and running with Batman and Iron Man going up against each other. *sigh* Sometimes stuff is just good.
Yesterday we went to The Courtyard, which is a small gift shop with tons of good stuff. My mom bought a TOTAL find! It's an issue of the Saturday Evening Post from 1968! There was this whole article about the music scene going on then, and lots of funny advertisements. I had a ball reading it.
So today I made some cupcakes for the Bereans kids tonight. I, sadly, don't get any. I think I want to make my famous (well, not famous YET) flourless chocolate cake. Everyone I know who's ever had it likes it. I love watching people's eyes get wide and they say, "Wow, this is really good." And then I do my little victory dance. Which is basically just jumping in circles and waving my hands around. What can you expect, I'm a white girl!
Tonight is church, so that's something. These lazy days basically make Wednesdays my favorite day of the week.

I think I am going to let myself like Foreigner again. It's been a long time.

My How-to of the Day

Okay, so here's how you can make those awesome little doodle things on your posts.

See the number pad on your keyboard? Not the numbers above the letters, those don't work. You gotta use a number pad. If there's no number pad, like on a laptop, go to a different computer.
So hit Alt and 1 at the same time. Let up your fingers and *presto*! Your first post emoticon. There are like a bazillion different combinations of keys to make images. My favorite is when you hit Alt+1+3 at the same time, and it makes a cute little music note. So just mess around with it, it's fun.
I'd show what some of them look like now, but I'm on a laptop. No number pad. *sniff*

Holy Crap!

I can't believe I still have this blog! I thought I had deleted it haha. Well as long as it's here, I might as well bore random net-surfers to tears...

I am still Emily.
I am still a teenager.
My life plods along much as usual.

How sad that I have nothing new to say since...JULY. Yikes. I don't even have my permit. Ah, well, I've been having a nice life.
I called Allisa a few weeks ago, can you believe it? She seems the same. I've been too scared to call because I'm afraid that Robbie will answer the phone and I'll be like, "Oh, uh, hi...um, how are you...?" You know how it is. Drama is retarded and I don't like to get involved in it.
Christmas was great as usual! New Years was way more fun than I was expecting. I went to Ethan's house and it was all good.
Oh, yeah, here's something different: my grandma's been living with us for about three months now. Yeah, so now both grandmas are living with us, one at either end of the house. Interesting, I must say...
Friends and semi-friends are still the same. Megan is still my bff, Danna is still my pally, and Jordan still hates me. Hey guess what? Pres has been coming to church like all the time! She even came to Wednesday Bible Study last night! That makes me much happy.

Kk well here's to '08. May it be better than '07.

Sorry...

Sorry I haven't updated. I found out about this new website called Facebook! It's like a safe version of myspace. So if you want you can join that.

But here's an update to any bored person or scammer that stumbles across this site. My life has been the same ol' same ol'. *CENSORED NAME* confessed to his sin, but someone still thinks he didn't do it! So I've mostly been worrying about how to convince that person of the truth without completely crushing him/her.
I'm going horseback riding today!!!! Hannah invited me and it'll be so much fun. I just feel bad for my baby sister. She was crying when she heard that she couldn't go. (when I say baby sister, I don't mean baby. Lily's 14.)
Tyler invited me to watch UHF with him and Ethan on Thursday. That'll be fun...but not as fun as my part in the deal. He has to watch Sense & Sensibility with me! lol this'll be interesting. But he said that he likes chick flicks.
Robyn's cutting and COLORING my hair on Wednesday!!!! This'll be the first time I get highlights EVER. I'm excited that there'll be a change after 16 years, but I just hope I don't regret it later. :P lol I guess you could say I'm a hair-color virgin.
I swear, Danny Elfman is a GENIUS. There hasn't been a musical score of his that I've heard that isn't a winner. Okay, maybe Midnight Run's music wasn't that great. But that wasn't conventional Danny Elfman. It was just...conventional 80's.
I went back to the dunes!!!! I only got to ride for a little while, but it was exhilerating. And I got to hang out with the Loynes family, who are the funnest people ever.

Although no one reads my blog anymore, it's good for me to write. It keeps me sane. lol it always happens that whenver I say that, someone tells me the next day, "I read your blog every day! You just never post!" Well, people, if you read my blog, please comment. It gives me more incentive to post sooner.

Keep on Truckin'

Yay, I'm back! Been a long time, eh? Yeah, well, in a month there's still not too much earth-shattering news to talk about. Let's see...

Megan applied for a job at Safeway.
The Bereans party is tomorrow and we're hoping the weather will be okay.
Bryan and Jordan are in North Dakota.
A new girl named Melinda is coming to church.
Allisa was at Bible study last night.
I tried volleyball for the first time in years on Wednesday, but quit within two minutes.
Mikhaila is spending the night tonight.
I've started writing more again.
Lothlorien seems to have been abandoned.
Personablige is now a word.
I'm wearing two braids in my hair, very unusual for me.
Life goes on.

Moving On

Okay, you guys have probably gotten tired of me saying, "Something happened! I can't tell you what it is though." So I'm shutting up about that.

Summer's comin' and I'm pumped! Our yard is looking really great since my mom put more flowers in. And now we have a hammock between our curly willows! Yay. Now I just need to throw a party to complete the perfect scene.

Can you believe that I'm actually ENJOYING my history and biology lately?!? I usually get soooo bored, but WW2 is really interesting. And don't laugh, but I'm really fascinated by cells. Seriously, it's really cool! Hopefully this should bring my grade point average up from a 3.6 by the end of the school year. I used to do a lot better.

This morning's Bible class was taught from John MacArthur's book The Truth War. It was really good, and I felt good that I could contribute to the conversation, like with Hegel and stuff. Er, is this in italics? It isn't as I type it, but the little italics button on top is on.

I like Bubbalicious. It's been forever since I had it, and I just started chewing it again. It's so much more fun than regular gum!!! I can like blow bubbles, and double-bubbles, and make huge cracking noises when I snap my gum! It's so great. Heehee.

I'm hoping to go see Spidey 3 on Saturday. I might not, because my dad will be using the car, but there's a movie theater within walking distance of our house. Has anybody else seen it? Don't give anything away, but tell me if you thought it was good. I've heard people either say it was super-great, or just okay. At least nobody hated it.

God bless always,
Emily
